Post Your Urban Photos of Rivers, Creeks, Streams and Canals

Mlýnská strouha (Mill trough) in the centre of Pilsen was originally one of the adjacent branches of the Radbuza River. It served not only to power the local souk mill, but also, together with the nearby water tower, as a water reservoir. It was filled in about 100 years ago to reinforce the main course of the river on which the hydroelectric power station was built. After the reconstruction in 2010, Mlýnská strouha became a park.

This is the Herengracht, part of the so called Canal Belt (in English usually referred to as the Canal District), a semi circle of parallel running canals in the centre of Amsterdam. There are four main canals, from the inside out: Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht. The Singel was built first as a fortress moat. The Herengracht in its turn served as a fortress moat for the Singel. The Canal Belt is on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Anyway, here's a panorama of two shots of the Herengracht. Taken in November, not the best season to show the beauty of the canals.
